Donations were used for one-day trip to Kiev (10 orphans visited our capital), for education program, for buying clothes and shoes for orphans, etc. We plan to use the rest of money for 1 week summer camp in Crimea for 10 children and other needs.
We thanks also Wes P. and Kara L. for their help to children hosted on weekends by Lena and Yura (our volunteers). Their donations are not in the main report currently, and we plan to make special reports for Wes and Kara.

Finally one-day trip to Kiev have taken place. 10 children saw our Ukrainian capital. They visited Independence square, Khreshatik street, funicular, a lot of ancient Churches, monastery and many other interesting places. We hope that there will be other such trips in future, because it make great impression on children and is not very expensive - about $200 for 1 trip (10 children and 3 adults).

We continue our educational program. Now two coaches work with orphans of orphanage #3. The smallest children study to read, write and draw, older ones study basic English. We sure that education often is more important thing to orphans than just giving gifts. But only 8 orphans we can learn now, so we need more and more sponsors to extend educational program.

Olena M. Keene from USA and her friends donated $1100 for needs of orphanage #3 of Zaporozhye. Olena personally visited Zaporozhye and our orphanage. We already bought light shoes for 58 children, and scanner (to scan orphans drawings and publish them on our website). $200 were aimed to needs of 3 graduates (boys), who are in the difficult situation now. Photo report had already sent to sponsors. It's the greatest donation have ever been received, but even it not fulfill all orphan's needs (we have 170 orphans!). Thank you, Olena!

Children of the orphanage #3 like to study computers very much. There are many orphans interested to study PC, but only 2 PC for whole orphanage.
Also we discovered, that children very like to cycle, but they have no bicycles. Now we try to visit orphanage with our own bicycle, but it would be good to buy new cheap ($80) bicycle. So we need people who can help to buy it.

We received 5 big parcels from Irina Fonareva, Jon Devenport and Jen Trewitt (USA). There are many new socks, towels, clothes, toys, chocolates, vitamins, etc in it. The Meest company was used for shipping, It takes 6 weeks to ship. Most of it was given to the orphanage #3, and the rest - to the orphanage #1 and children's home for mentally retarded children. New info about Zaporozhye Children’s home “Sun” added to our web site. "Sun" (Dom rebenka "Solnishko") is the unique in Zaporozhye area establishment, where live, are educated and are treated 305 children-fatherless, children-invalids, children who have stayed without custody of parents. Their ages are from 1 month up to 4 years.

Now an English version of our Website is available. We have also added new pictures of the children and the orphanage.

The plane Venice-Kiev has brought 11 children home. They spent more than one month in Italy. They lived in families and children camps. Many of them swam in the Mediterranean sea. It was the first time that they were on a plane, and for some of them it was the first time that they were outside Zaporozhye region. Unfortunatelly only some of the orphans will have a chance to visit Italy. The trip was organized due to support of the company “Nabat”, the fund “Ukraine For Children” and hospitable Italians.
Until September, 1st all the children will be staying in children camps on the Azov Sea.

We took a hiking tour to the Khortitsa Island, we took pictures of children with the Dnieper and DneproGES in the background, ate potatoes, communicated with nature. Some children were climbing the rocks, playing volleyball, watching numerous spring grass-snakes and lizards.
