At the beginning of January the Intensive care department of the Zaporozhye regional children’s hospital received a small parcel with a charitable donation: 12 silicone tubes.

From the outside it may seem that such help is not worth mentioning: just small tubes of some kind. But as a matter of fact they are very important components of a large facility – respiratory circuit AVEА. Lives of the intensive care patients depend on this device. Through such tubes the air is supplied into the lungs of seriously ill children who are not able to breathe on their own.
White crimped tube is a saving hose which supplies air to the patient from the respiratory device.
All medical equipment fails due to long hours of operation and frequent processing. It happened so that at the end of 2010 several of such tubes went out of order simultaneously. The respiratory facilities could eventually have been shut down; and the intensive care patients were endangered because of the risk to be left without artificial respiration.
At present the intensive care has a small store of tubes necessary in the artificial respiratory systems.
The charitable foundation “Happy Child” was able to quickly purchase the component parts required for the respiratory systems for the sum of 6 397 UAH due to the donations made by the employees and clients of the Zaporozhye network of the OTP Bank Ukraine, who transferred their donations to the Foundation account in the OTP Bank. Thank you very much, dear friends! Since now, the intensive care patients should have no more breathing problems.
"A little body often harbors a great soul" is usually said about hardly noticeable things which have many concealed merits and virtues. These small but at the same time very important parts for the respiratory systems used in the intensive care of the Zaporozhye regional children’s hospital fully correspond to the meaning of this proverb. Sometimes the operation of a large device depends on a small tube. Sometimes someone’s health depends on a small donation.
