On November 24th, 25 children from the Zaporozhye comprehensive orphanage school No. 4 visited one of the world leading enterprises, developing, producing, and maintaining aircraft engines – Motor Sich JSC – within “I Want to Be...” Project. The purpose of this tour was to motivate children to get professional training after graduating from school and to help high school students to choose their future profession.
On the territory of the factory the children got a chance to see two machine assembly shops, with separate engine components as well as assembled turbojet engines to be installed at the heaviest carrier aircrafts – An-124 Ruslan (Condor) and An-225 Mriya (Cossack).
“The factory gets orders from almost all the continents of the world as we produce, maintain, test, and repair aircraft engines, installed on 53 types of airplanes and helicopters, which are in demand in 90 countries of the world”, told the children Aleksander Ozerov, senior supervisor of the assembly section.
After a short tour over the factory, the children got acquainted with operation of complicated automated equipment used to produce components, and also saw the further process – assembly of engines, carried out by qualified Motor Sich specialists.
Head of the production control team, Grigory Karas, showed children the maintaining wheels developed by Motor Sich engineers; mono-wheels milled from single-piece metal; drums, giant screws, vanes for remotely piloted MS-350 engines as well as many other things.
High school students were told about the production process and learned where they could get training to get a job at one of the most successful enterprises of Ukraine.
After the factory shops the children visited the Motor Sich Museum, where based on the archive documents and other sources the history of establishment and development of the engine building factory has been reproduced in chronological order. In the museum children saw a unique collection of aircraft engines, photos, documents, memorable presents as well as other interesting exhibits and aircraft models.
The tour proved to be very interesting and informative. We really hope that in future some of the children will get a job at the Motor Sich factory.
