Walking along the paths where our forefathers used to walk for centuries, breathing the scent of wild red-book herbs, and contemplating the images of fairy-tale heroes in the shapes of hills and rocks… The weekend proved to be a success! Positive emotions and new impressions became a present for the children from Molochansk Secondary Boarding School, who made their fall trip to the Stone Graves national historical and archeological park in the Melitopol district. Yuri Kovalevsky, the PT trainer of the children, with support of Happy Child Foundation turned a regular weekend to a real holiday for those children.
All visitors of this picturesque site of the Zaporozhye region — middle and high school students — are active participants of sports competitions, that is why this mini trip was their incentive for achievements in this area.
In caves and rock shelters ancient people left several thousands images — petroglyphs, which date different centuries — from the Paleolithic Age to the Middle Ages. The girls saw them during their tours in the Stone Graves museum.
The girls felt like they made a trip in the time machine — of course! In fact they got a chance to go to a place they have read about in history books. And it all became possible due to a tourist program of Happy Child Foundation, which turned into a club of children tours and trips called Klubok. From now on privileged children from all over Ukraine have a possibility to take part in club activities!
Starting from the beginning of 2011, more than 800 children from large, low-income, and asocial families as well as orphanage students got a chance to go through unforgettable adventures thanks to the Foundation. Just imagine: many children may only guess what a sea smells like or how high mountains are… Hiking, tours, tent camps, scout schools, numerous workshops, and meetings with travelers — this is all meant to expand the borders of the world, which is for many children restricted to the walls of their orphanage or the streets of their native village.
In order to allow the young travelers’ club develop, we need your support. Today most of the activities are made possible due to the donations of our supporter Joel from the USA. Happy Child Foundation has lots of travel-related plans for 2012. That is why we address you all asking to help children see and learn as much interesting things as they can in the new year! Both your financial help (to cover expenses for transport and meals) and volunteer support (participation in trips), are welcome.
