A Child Needs a Family: Valentina Т., born in 1996

Valentina has left the orphanage and now studies at the lycee.

When you talk to this delicate girl with big eyes it is difficult to believe she has experienced so many miseries in her young life. Valentina is the same as an ordinary carefree girl of her age.

Just as other teenagers, she often has different moods. Sometimes she wants to cry, sometimes to dance, she can be rude with adults and then be very ashamed of that. Sometimes she has no desire to go to school, but at the same time there is so much that is interesting there! Sometimes she has no energy at all and the next day it is so easy and great to clean the whole house!

Sometimes it seems, that it is great to do gymnastics, and sometimes she likes to sit quietly in a corner and to draw or to read a book.

It often seems that the main thing is to leave the orphanage as soon as possible, no matter where. But then it becomes frightful – what is there ahead? And Valentina is also thinking of an adult life, she has already chosen an occupation. She is going to study hairdressing.

But where could she find moral support? Whom could she consult, talk to? Or is adult life to be even more complicated than Valentina’s “salty” childhood?

If you are interested in adopting this child or other children, please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents; you can also contact Children’s Affairs' service of the Zaporozhia State Administration by telephone (061) 239-01-56 and tell them the profile numbers of Valentina - 0059524.

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage) with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
