Last July we purchased Resource Optimum protein nutrition for 2,000 hryvnyas (150 US dollars) which is meant for children in the orphanage at Velikiy Lug. Besides it is two years since we have been managing the salary of the rehabilitator who is also a personal educator for one child at this orphanage. This child, who in April last year was on edge of surviving, is now learning to walk and eat something more than semolina and communicates with the surrounding world.

Four grown up orphans from Kalinovka had a wonderful summer camp vacation in Novokonstantinovka thanks to you! Thanks to volunteers we have twice organized river camps for children who had been at the seaside before.

Last month after seven-year endless searches we have finally found a physician for orphans in Kalinovka. We hope that the quality of health care for children as well as grownups in the Kalinovka orphanage will definitely improve. We need your kind support, so we could finance the wage of the physician from another district. We look forward to your feedback! Many thanks!

At the end of July the orphanage in Kalinovka opened its doors for two guests volunteers from New Zealand. Despite the fact that it is winter in their home country and were having summer and war in Ukraine, the girls have not only been participating in our fund-raising campaign for Kalinovka needs but have come for five weeks to become friends with children they care about like their own!

Thanks to our constant sponsor Mayas Hope the second Happy Home now has a vacuum cleaner, an oven and air-conditioning.

Our educator for grown up dwellers in Kalinovka is continuing her job even though one educator and a staff caretaker is obviously not enough for a group of forty grownup men. It simply means that if from Monday to Friday a caretaker and an educator work together, one of the women has to take care of forty grownup men with learning difficulties and mental disorders on weekend.

The Report of Educators Work

Sasha Z. and Artem N. together with their educator Sophia Sh. made a piggy from macaroni. The educator also taught Artem to read with ABC book and nursery encyclopedia. However, Artem becomes upset when he cannot read a word, so then he just drops reading. Sasha Z. solves math exercises with the help of counting sticks. Together with their educator the children made a bouquet of flowers from napkins for a birthday present of their caretaker.

While Sasha Z. the boss of the household of the first Happy Home was enjoying his seaside vacation, Artem N. took over his duty and started to wash the dishes and one must say he did it pretty well. Vanya P. learnt to put the mosaic together.

Olga M. and Larisa K. were writing letters according to examples, making different animal figures from plasticine and with Zhenya Zh. were putting together blocks and mosaic and constructing pyramids. Vera learnt to count to five. Olya P. was taught to put blocks into the box. The educator is training Anzhela to walk and take-and-give toys when shes asked. Natasha M. from the same group managed to teach Varya D. to eat at the table.
