Help me to Overcome my Pain and Win

November 17, 2014, 22:00 2163 Author: Kristina Voytovich, translated by Daria Sukach www.deti.zp.ua The letter from Kristina Voytovich

Dear everyone,

I’m Kristina Voytovich. You may have read the story of my life.

You know what efforts it cost me to conquer cancer. I was one of the first patients in Ukraine who underwent bone marrow transplantation. There is still little research in this field, so nobody really knows what challenges such patients will face in the future.

So, this is exactly what happened to me.

At first, I was fighting with hepatitis B and C (this is a very rare and severe combination). The treatment was long and costly. Thanks to your support I started my treatment in Kyiv and later continued it in Moscow. Then I was taken to the intensive care unit. Your prayers and donations have again saved my life.

I am used to challenges, pains and fighting with myself. It again seems that my ordeals are back. Every complicated treatment is fraught with the disastrous consequences. This is exactly my case. My new diagnosis is chronic osteomyelitis of the tibia. Osteomyelitis is an inflammation of the marrow that eventually effects all elements of the bone. The only solution is a surgery. I have undergone three surgeries for the last three months – one in my hometown Melitopol and another one in Zaporizhzhia. The treatment has not brought any noticeable results yet. The doctors insist on the surgery in Kyiv. The surgeons are very experienced in such surgeries there.

There is one big obstacle in front of me – the lack of money.

I was told that the treatment in Kyiv will consist of three rounds and will approximately take 2-3 months. According to the most modest calculations, my future treatment requires 10,000 hryanyas (this is approximately 618 US dollars for all three rounds). Besides, my mother will be with me in Kyiv all the time and it means she will have to rent a room. I desperately need her constant support due to my health issues. I cannot eat many kinds of products and my immune system is very weak, so the presence of my mom is vital to me. This means additional expenses.

Dear kind people,

You have helped me so many times! Thanks to you I am still alive! My mother and I always pray for all of you. I believe you will save me this time again and I will be able to dance. I look forward to enjoying a life of an ordinary girl who will forever forget about her crutches. I will do it with your help!

Thank you for being there for me!

Take care of yourselves!

Yours,

Kristina V.
