A Child Needs a Family: Tatyana B., born in 1999

December 7, 2011, 13:00 4552 Author: Victoria Mochalova, translated by Anna Oliynyk www.deti.zp.ua I’m always puzzled by the fact that orphans first try to attract attention by all means, but when they achieve their purpose, they have no idea what to do with this attention. Profile # 0059016

This is also true about Tanya. She has been staying in an orphanage since her early childhood, so her other life has almost erased from her memory. I wanted to have a talk with her, to ask her about the things she likes and dislikes, about her dreams, daily routine, and hobbies. But the girl only smiled and gave very brief answers with her quiet voice.

What is she like? The girl is active, lively, loves to dance. She even takes part in her school dancing group. She makes jewelry out of beads. And like all girls she loves dressing up and doing hairstyles. Her teachers have no particular troubles with her…

Is it not enough? Well, what else can I tell? We should be honest with ourselves, only the very few of us are stars and champions. And what should an ordinary orphanage girl, not very small do to become special for somebody? To make some adults want to become a family for her? To touch your heart from the computer screen?

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage) with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
