Invoice for one-year treatment

Good afternoon, dear donors,

Let me tell you a little about our news.

We have already told you that when Nikita was one year and three months old, he was diagnosed with retinoblastoma – cancer disease of both eyes. Treatment offered by Ukrainian doctors did now allow avoiding eye removal.

In March 2013, the boy started his treatment in an Israeli clinic. The treatment lasted for a year. After six courses of chemotherapy and one and a half months of radiation, the Israeli doctors also suggested removing the right eye. After lengthy search and long talks with parents whose children were diagnosed with the same disease, we were recommended to go to the Swiss clinic in Lausanne, where they have achieved success in treating retinoblastoma. This clinic uses the method of arterial chemotherapy when the chemo is applied directly to the eye, not harming the whole body.

The boy started treatment in March 2014. Nikita had two courses of intra-arterial chemotherapy, and as a result the tumor was inactivated. But after the radiation treatment in the Israeli clinic ischemia was developed in one of the eyes. The boy received many injections in the eye to stop this process. At the moment, the process has been terminated but the boy’s state requires constant monitoring as the eye vessels are weak. Besides, the activity of the tumor should also be controlled. It means that Nikita needs monthly examinations. The clinic issued and invoice for 62,400 francs. USD 45,000 are still to be raised. For us, it is a huge amount and we will just not be able to cope on our own. I ask all those who care about this little creature to help us raise the required amount not to stop halfway to his recovery!
