Donation and expense report for the project

Recently, we visited Special Me, an inclusive center created by the Ukrainian NGO Kvitka Zhyttia (Flower of Life). It is a place for teenagers and young people with disabilities, where specialists go beyond rehabilitation by helping them develop the skills they need for everyday life.

Most of us perform countless everyday tasks without giving them a second thought: shopping for groceries, preparing meals, or using public transportation. For many people with disabilities, however, these are complex skills that can take months or even years to master.

Unfortunately, once a child with a disability reaches adolescence and then adulthood, opportunities for continued development become much more limited. Special Me fills that gap. Here, young people develop practical daily living, social, and vocational skills, receive psychological support, build friendships, and prepare for the fullest and most independent life possible.

This is exactly what meaningful support for people with disabilities should look like: not doing everything for a person, but patiently helping them learn to do it themselves. It is a much more demanding approach, but it builds confidence and self-belief. Many parents become so accustomed to helping their children with everything that, over time, they stop believing their sons or daughters can learn to do things on their own. At Special Me, specialists work not only with the young people but also with their parents, helping them recognize their children's potential and regain confidence in their abilities. This support is invaluable, because years of constant care, responsibility, and emotional strain can be exhausting.

Today, Kvitka Zhyttia needs financial support to equip its facilities, purchase equipment and educational materials, and ensure the center can continue operating. If you are able, please consider supporting this project through our foundation.
