ABILENE, Texas - The political unrest in Ukraine has been spotlighted for months with Russian troops attempting to take over what is left of the country.
One Big Country family has firsthand knowledge of the destruction and fear the children in the country are experiencing.
The Morrows work for Youth Reach International, an organization that travels to Russia, Ukraine and Belarus to disciple orphans.
"The major thing is that we go over then often and right now there's a travel advisory from the US government that says citizens should not travel to Ukraine," Shana Morrow said.
Since the conflict, things have changed dramatically and the crash to the Ukranian economy has created an even bigger hardship for the children they serve because the orphans receive stipends for food and medicine.
"The fear is that as the economy...we don't know how soon those monies will kick in and how soon money will be funneled down to the stipends that these kids receive," Tony Morrow said.
Through the uncertainty, the family said they are still planning to head to Ukraine this summer.
