Kiril Leskov, born on 25th of August 2008
Diagnosis: multiple congenital anomalies: atresia (the absence of the anus and straight intestine), urinary system disorder, two-sided hydronephrosis, central nervous system damage.
2008, 10.35 AM. Young couple - Tatiana and Ivan are holding their hands nervously waiting for their turn in front of the ultrasonography room. “Finally! Let’s go sweetheart! Don’t worry! Everything is going to be alright; - Ivan comforts his young pregnant wife on her way to the ultrasound examination. Some minutes later the worst fears and forebodings of the mother-to-be are confirmed… The physician diagnosed an unborn baby with a kidney disorder. Two months later Tatiana and Ivan became happy parents of little baby boy who they named Kiril which stems from Greek and means “lord” . Although Kiril was diagnosed with multiple congenital abnormalities such as a heart defect, the absence of pelvic bones on one side, atresia (the absence of the anus and straight intestine), a urinary system disorder, two-sided hydronephrosis etc., the young parents felt themselves truly blessed with their sweet blue-eyed and rosy cheeked bundle of joy.
Kiril started his battle for life on the second day of his life when he underwent surgery. For his first three years this cute boy has overcome 13 operations, 2 bouts of pneumonia and a great number of other health complications. The doctors had to remove one of Kiril’s kidneys and now they are trying to save the other one. Kiril’s bladder doesn’t function either. However, the Leskov Family is not giving up and doing everything possible and impossible to save the life of their precious child.
The family’s financial situation is rather critical. Kiril’s father, Ivan, is the only person who earns some money that all goes to cover his son’s treatment. Tatiana is always looking after little Kiril in various hospitals. The Leskov Family already got some financial support from a local “Region’s Party” as well as some colleagues from work. But it is far from enough to buy all the necessary medications for little Kiril.
“We were greatly supported by our colleagues at work by money and blood donations. But we’re aware of the fact that our friends also have their own families. We could ask for help once, the second time…but we are feeling really uneasy doing it regularly! Some local deputies also donated us some money. Nowadays we’re trying to cope with our problems alone…but it’s very hard! That’s why we’ve applied to your charity foundation”, - says Kiril’s mother Tatiana.
Kiril currently needs such medications as: Picamilon, Furamag, Canephron, Linex, Lacidofil etc. Apart from that the boy always needs diapers and colostomy pouching systems (so-called ‘bags’ that provide a means for the collection of waste (faeces).
The Leskov Family is facing a very tough time and they cannot cope with their problems alone anymore. Let’s help little Kiril to be a winner in his pitched battle against his health problems! Kiril is staying at the Zaporizhzhia City Children’s Hospital # 5 at present.
Little Kiril urgently needs your help to raise 625 US dollars for this surgery that takes place on the 17th of June! Without your support this sweet boy won't make it!
The family lives in the Vilnyansk district (the Zaporizhzhia region).
