Man accused of molesting adopted boys

April 19, 2006, 0:00 6152 KGet TV

BAKERSFIELD - A local businessman is accused of molesting several boys all adopted from outside the United States.

The suspect is 53-year-old John Krueger, who is accused of molesting four young boys.

The boys were adopted from an orphanage in the Ukraine, three by him and one by an acquaintance.

Bakersfield Police were first alerted to the allegations in December 2005.

“Our department received information on December 30 that an 11-year-old male had been the victim of a child molestation,” according to BPD’s Det. Ryan Paslay.

He said, “Mr. Krueger was implicated as a suspect in that incident.”

Detectives now say they've found another victim, a 9-year-old boy and adopted son of Krueger.

But, county court documents show two other victims, 7 and 10.

Krueger told KGET-TV over the phone that this has been a nightmare and all the charges are false. He leaves the rest to his lawyer Gregory Mitts.

“When the statements of the kids come out there's a lot of contradictory statements between the children and the allegations are totally baseless,” Mitts said. Krueger, who's also the owner of the Quality Inn on Oak Street, describes himself on his website as divorced with one child who no longer lives with him.

Krueger’s site goes on to say the Ukraine is the only country in the world where a single male can adopt a Caucasian child, and it says, in a short amount of time.

But Krueger and his attorney say that site is simply the bragging of a proud father.

According to the complaint filed against Krueger, two prior molestation allegations were made against him in 1991 and 1996. To those, Krueger’s attorney tells the same story.

Krueger is currently out on bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court to face the felony charges next week.
