During birth, Mariia experienced oxygen deprivation. This led to brain damage and severe, irreversible consequences. Today, the girl has complex diagnoses: spastic tetraparesis, symptomatic epilepsy, and significant developmental delay.
Six-year-old Mariia is completely dependent on her mother’s care. She responds to her loved ones, sometimes can hold her head up, and can remain seated only with support. Her mother is constantly by her side — caring for her, feeding her, and surrounding her daughter with warmth and love.
Due to her underlying condition and limited mobility, Mariia regularly develops infectious complications: pneumonia, sepsis, and purulent otitis. At the end of December, another exacerbation occurred — Mariia was hospitalized with pneumonia. For treatment, an expensive antibiotic called “Zavicefta” was prescribed, which we purchased for her. Approximately 34,000 UAH was spent on ten vials of the medication.
Because she is unable to eat independently, Mariia suffers from underweight issues. To ensure proper nutrition, she recently had a gastrostomy installed — a special system for delivering food directly into the stomach. We also contributed by purchasing this device at a cost of 4,885 UAH.
For daily care, Mariia constantly needs diapers, disposable underpads, enteral nutrition, and special disposable syringes for gastrostomy use. Our goal is to support the family and raise 30,000 UAH (approximately 710 US dollars) for these daily needs, because in addition to care and love, financial resources are necessary to provide the child with comfortable living conditions.
