By the year 2015, Ukraine will be a country without orphans, according to the vision of a newly established alliance known as Ukraine Without Orphans.
More than 500 Christians from around the world met in Kiev at a three-day conference to launch the alliance.
The group's aim is to be a Christian force defending orphans rights and encouraging other Christians to adopt.
The Christian Broadcasting Network's Orphan's Promise ministry and Compassion International were co-hosts of the conference.
"If we as the church don't reach children, someone else will," said Dan Brewster, the director of Compassion International.
Steve Weber, the director of CBN's WorldReach ministry, challenged those gathered to make the vision of Ukraine Without Orphans something that is acted upon and not just talked about.
