A Child Needs A Family: Ivan S., born in 1997

September 4, 2011, 13:05 6601 Author: Victoria Mochalova, translated by Daria Sukach www.deti.zp.ua Ivan is 18 years old now

Ivan realized right away the reason for our interview with his classmates. He was patiently waiting for his turn and did not yield to the temptation of playing somewhere around the orphanage. Ivan was eagerly listening to every single word of the other interviewed children. But when his turn finally came, Ivan got suddenly confused.

Although Ivan was smiling winsomely all the time, one can hardly call him a good speaker. In just some words, he told us that he had been staying in the orphanage for a long time. His relatives never visit him because they have no time. His sister was adopted by an American family and they don’t keep in touch anymore…Ivan dreams of living in a family but he somehow cannot explain his wish. And that’s clear since he doesn’t have such an experience and what he had in his past life one can never state as an example…and that was too long ago anyway…

Ivan is frank and honest. He loves playing football with other boys. He’s not a leader but he still gets along with his friends very well.

He also watches over the order in the orphanage. He cares about wardrobes and beds and reminds other children to treat the orphanage furniture carefully. As soon as Ivan notices something broken, he informs older children about it and even tries to fix it by himself.

Welcome this nice boy into your family! You will definitely benefit from it as well as Ivan.

If you are interested in adopting Ivan, please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents; you can also contact Children’s Affairs' service of the Zaporozhia State Administration by telephone (061) 239-01-56. Request the Profile Number of Ivan accordingly to the orphan list #0057083.

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage) with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
