Up-to-date news about Support Out-Migrants Project

We have been recently receiving more and more requests from social services and volunteer centers to provide help to displaced families from the area of Donbass (Donetsk).

We will try to pay special attention to large and needy families as well as foster families and family-type orphanages.

We have talked to the volunteer staff providing assistance to IDPs, headed by Nastya Golikova. People bring clothes, food, medicine, diapers, etc. to this center every day. Out-migrants registered in Emergency Situations Ministry, also come and get the necessary aid on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, there is acute shortage of certain items.

Everything listed below is much needed:

- Baby soap, toothpaste, detergent, creams and powders, wipes;

- Diapers, especially sizes 2, 3 and 5;

- Baby carriages/Strollers, including canes, walkers;

- Toys, except for the soft ones (toy construction sets, educational games, toy cars, dolls - preferably in good condition);

- Stationery, especially watercolors and albums (for art therapy lessons with a psychologist);

- Footwear, especially flip-flops - summer slippers (rubber ones);

- Shorts, socks;

- Metal mugs or cups, pans, kettles to be used on a cooker.

Support the family of six children

If by September 1st, the situation doesn’t change and families do not return home – we will face a major problem of children’s preparation for school. We will need funds to purchase school supplies, uniforms and clothing, backpacks, etc.

We also have specific needs of certain families. Now there are three women (so called mothers-tutors) of family-type orphanages living at the recreation center located on the island of Khortytsya. We spoke with one of them - Lydia Kovaleva. Total number of the children in these families - 40!Although these families are provided with free meals, state financing has not been arranged yet. Lydia told us they urgently need diapers for babies (7 of them take care of the babies at the age of 20 days, 2 months and 1.5 years). Also they need wipes and milk mixture "Baby Premium".

And, of course, volunteers encourage all people of the Zaporozhzhye region who have free living space, to register in the office of Emergency Situations Ministry and help displaced persons with settling.
