Viktoria has always been a winner. She is strong and at the same time she is very weak. She is small and at the same time she is grown-up much beyond her years. She is happy to be alive and sad to have to live her life confined in the Intensive Care Unit.
Vika was taken to the Intensive Care Unit when she was celebrating her 13th birthday. When the celebration was coming to its end, she was not able to fight any longer. It all happened because the lifecycle of the device to help her breathe came to its end.
The lungs of our little princess are almost completely “destroyed” with the disease. She can only breathe using an oxygen concentrator. Her whole life depends on the device. Its service life is over and it does not supply the girl with a sufficient amount of oxygen anymore. Now the girl has no access to the required equipment at home, so she has to live in the Intensive Care Unit. The girl will have to stay there unless we raise EUR 700 or UAH 20,000 or 830 US dollars.
Yesterday I exchanged e-mails with the girl. She is really scared to be in the Intensive Care Unit. She is the only child who is conscious there and has to stay there because of the oxygen.
That is what she wrote me:
“There is a baby there in comatose state (she attached a photo). And there was another baby boy nearby, they just took him away today, he forgot to breathe sometimes, so his indicators fell really low, the machines started beeping and they rapidly went up. He forgot to breathe. They are so small, and they are fed through tubes in their veins, they don’t even get their food through their mouths. That is what I see. If I turn my head to the other side, I see a glass wall and it’s even worse. There they have older children. I see a boy about 6-7 years of age who has no eye and he is connected to a lot of machines, a lot of droppers, and the second girl, I can’t see her well, she is all covered with masks, wires, catheters…”
Please help our little girl to leave the Intensive Care Unit and go back home. Her chance to leave her confinement depends on our ability to raise the required sum of money.
