City Children's Hospital No. 5 has been included in the list of institutions providing assistance to children with coronavirus since April last year.

The medical institution accepts patients under 18 years of age with suspected coronavirus and a confirmed diagnosis. The hospital also has a separate operating unit for COVID-19 patients who need surgery.

Today, representatives of the medical institution told about the situation with their morbidity now. According to the chief physician of the city children's hospital No. 5, Andrey Zaporozhchenko, the number of cases has changed somewhat over the past few weeks.

- Now we are seeing a slight decrease in the number of patients in our hospital. So, over the past day, three children were discharged from the hospital. At the same time, three new patients were admitted to us. Of the 150 beds provided for covid patients, we now have 24 occupied. There are 5 children in intensive care. We treat both the disease itself and its consequences. These are complications in different organs that the coronavirus can give. This does not always happen, but we also face this, - said Andrey Zaporozhchenko, quoted by the press service of the City Council.

Currently, the age of patients with coronavirus infection in Children's Hospital No. 5 is from 1.5 to 17 years old. There is also one infant patient who is only 14 days old.

According to the hospital's management, the department for treating children with coronavirus is provided with everything necessary - the beds are connected to a centralized oxygen supply system, there are medications. In addition, the department is equipped with 12 ventilators, portable ultrasound and mobile X-ray machine, modern laboratory equipment.
