Karyna Dubchenko: step by step toward recovery

Two months have passed since the terrible road traffic accident that radically changed the life of 17-year-old Karyna. After severe injuries and several surgeries, the girl continues to fight to restore her mobility.

In December, thanks to your support, we paid for titanium rods for the surgery — osteosynthesis of the right clavicle — costing 16,500 UAH. We sincerely thank everyone who joined the fundraising effort and supported Karyna during this difficult period.

From the first days of January, a new stage began for Karyna — rehabilitation. She has to relearn how to control her own body. With the help of specialists, Karyna has already learned to raise her arms and move them to the sides. These small but important successes inspire and give hope. At the same time, her fingers still remain immobile. Fortunately, her legs have retained sensitivity, but motor function has not yet been restored. Doctors note that the recovery period will be long and may take from one to two years.

The next step in treatment is planned to be Karyna’s transfer to a specialized rehabilitation center in Lviv. Doctors are currently waiting until her condition allows for safe evacuation. It is likely that the remaining collected funds will be used to pay for a resuscitation ambulance. We will definitely inform you about this additionally.

We thank everyone who supported Karyna. We sincerely believe that step by step she will be able to return to an active life.
