A Child Needs a Family: Kristina K., was born in 1998

September 27, 2010, 17:00 6096 Author: Victiria Mochalova, translated by Daria Sukach www.deti.zp.ua Kristina is 18 years old now

Kristina gets embarrassed and looks down in the presence of a stranger. After the recent death of her beloved mother, the girl was taken to shelter.

However her childhood was stolen away a long time before. Kristina’s mother got seriously ill, so the little girl had no choice but to take over all the household chores. Kristina quickly learned all the intricacies of the housekeeping and nursing her terminally ill mom. When her mom’s condition worsened they both moved to Kristina’s older sister living in Transcarpathian region. But Kristina’s life did not get easier: besides the housekeeping chores she had to look after her four little nephews. Our little Cinderella misses her best friend – a neighboring girl, who stayed in that city. As soon as her friend came back from school and was finished with her homework, she ran to visit Kristina. If Kristina was busy, her friend helped her, if not – they played together.

Due to the absence of the residency permit, Kristina could not go to school. What’s more, no one thought to teach the girl to read and count. It’s a great pity that the girl had no opportunity to study as the teachers of the Polohy Orphanage are simply amazed by how Kristina learns everything in a heartbeat! But Kristina is too big for the first grade and too little to cook borsch-soup…

If you are interested in adopting Kristina or other children, please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents or contact us or provide profile #0163604 to the State Department of Adoption.

Other children who dream of finding a family.

If you are not ready to adopt at this moment (e.g. you are a student and haven’t created your own family yet) you can also help children from the boarding school (orphanage) by supporting organizationally or financially excursions and trips for the children, visiting a child in the orphanage, or helping with buying developmental toys, books, construction sets and sport equipment.
