The pupils of Kirovo Orphanage in the Sviato-Pokrovskaya church in the Sich settlement
Thanks to the help of “The Happy Child” Charity Foundation donors 16 pupils of Kirovo Orphanage accompanied by the psychologist Taran Oksana Aleksandrovna and the teacher Kotsylo Natalia Nickolayevna came to the Khortytsia Island on August 11th, 2011. The girls were to visit the Zaporizhian Cossack Museum and the Historic and Cultural Zaporizhian Sich centre. The Khortytsia National reserve guide Andrusenko Yekaterina Yevgeniyevna conducted two interesting and fascinating excursions for the girls. She told them about the history of the Zaporizhzhia region and the legends of the glorious Khortytsia Island. The girls could see the Cossack “hatkas” (huts) and the steppe Cossacks buildings, they also learned about the everyday life of both Zaporizhian Army and the population of that time.
