We were so hopeful that we would never have to write about this case again. But it seems that the stress and injuries that Kristina has suffered as a result of a car crash have had a long-term effect on her health…
Several months ago Kristina ended up at a Hematology Unit of Zaporozhye Regional Children's Hospital. She felt worse again – could it be a relapse? This is the word that everyone is afraid of: the kids themselves, their parents, doctors and volunteers. They are afraid of starting it all over again: endless tests and chemotherapy, followed by sickness and waiting for results.
The examinations and tests have revealed that Kristina is feeling unwell due to weakened immune system, and usual vitamins (from fruit, vegetables and affordable drugs) are not enough to make a difference. The only solution would be to take “immunoglobulin” constantly. This is the only drug that can boost the immune system enough and save Kristina from sickness. One pack of this drug costs UAH 6,500 (approximately 796 US dollars) and lasts a month. This is a vast amount of money for this family…
More sleepless nights for Kristina and her mother Elena: “What’s next? How are we going to cope? How are we going to be able to afford the drugs and tests?” They have to find answers to so many questions right now.
But surely we are able to answer at least some of these for them.
Many people are worried for Kristina and pray for her, they have been helping out and supporting her over two long years… Today Kristina and her mother need your help once again!
Elena and Kristina haven’t even got the money for a blood test or even food. Mother has to choose whether to feed Christina or to get the test done (she doesn’t even mention herself at this point). Kristina will need more funds as the girl hasn’t recovered from her injuries yet: she’s had six fractures to her pelvis, collar bone and wrist, bruised liver and lungs and a concussion.
Kristina and Elena Voytovich are not giving up and don’t let it get them down. They are going to fight, and we can help them, as they have already come such a long way!!!
