Mariyka was born prematurely, which led to the development of cerebral palsy. Since then, she has been fighting every day for free movement and a life without pain.
Mariyka is 13 years old. Although she cannot walk and can only sit with support, she eagerly learns and always looks forward to her teacher’s visits. Mariyka barely speaks, but she actively communicates using gestures. That is why it is so important for her fingers not to clench into a fist—this allows her to draw, complete tasks, and express her thoughts.
Recently, Mariyka learned to greet others and say the word "thank you" This is a huge achievement for her! Her mother hopes that, over time, Mariyka will be able to say more words so she can express what is troubling her and receive the help she needs.
Due to the spasticity caused by cerebral palsy, Mariyka often experiences pain from uncontrolled muscle tension. Massages given by her older sister help relieve her pain and improve her well-being. However, because of explosions and constant alarms, Mariyka remains in a state of tension and fear, which only worsens her physical and emotional condition.
To reduce spasticity and pain, Mariyka needs several rehabilitation courses per year. We aim to raise funds for one of these courses at the Kozyavkin Clinic, which costs 22,340 UAH (approximately 540 USD). In relatively peaceful Truskavets, she will have the opportunity to recover not only physically but also emotionally.
Together, we can improve Mariyka’s life—help her live without pain and fear!
