Dear friends, we are reaching out to you once again to ask for help for Kyrylo!
His story is one of nearly ten years of continuous struggle. At the age of three, a routine injection damaged his sciatic nerve, leading to severe consequences: loss of sensation in his right lower leg, foot immobility, and impaired nerve function. Numerous treatments and rehabilitation courses brought little improvement. Doctors performed several surgeries, including nerve neurolysis and the installation of an electrical stimulation system, but significant progress remained elusive.
Over time, Kyrylo’s right leg became several centimeters shorter than his left, and his foot developed a severe deformity, ultimately causing spinal curvature.
A year ago, thanks to your generosity, we raised funds for a crucial surgery—arthrodesis. With the help of implants, his foot was fixed in the correct position, allowing him to finally put weight on it! This was a major milestone, but another critical step lies ahead.
Currently, the difference in leg length is nearly 4 cm, and if left uncorrected, it will place even more strain on his spine, leading to further complications. The least traumatic solution is temporary growth plate blocking in his healthy leg at two points: the knee and hip joints. This will allow the shorter leg to gradually catch up in length.
Kyrylo dreams of living without pain and limitations—of running freely, playing football, and finally replacing his orthopedic brace with a regular sneaker. He longs for a normal life, and this surgery can make that a reality.
The procedure is scheduled for May, and the cost of the implants is 62,300 UAH (approximately $1,510 USD). Friends, we ask for your help!
