Zakhary became an orphan at the age of five. At first, his grandmother took care of him. Later, as her health deteriorated, the responsibility for Zakhary fell on his older brother Rostyslav, who became not only a brother, but also a father figure and a steadfast source of support.
Zakhary is now fifteen. These have been fifteen years of fighting illness and pain. At just one month old, he was diagnosed with hematogenous osteomyelitis — a severe inflammatory bone disease. Since then, the consequences of this illness have followed him every day. Despite several major surgeries, his condition continues to worsen. Persistent back pain now prevents him from moving, sleeping, or even sitting comfortably. He once loved riding his bicycle and scooter, but today he must avoid any physical activity. His only source of comfort is his loyal dog, Odin.
Doctors stress the urgency: Zakhary needs immediate surgery to correct the dislocated hip, followed by a lengthy rehabilitation process. The operation is scheduled to take place in Dnipro, at Rudnev Hospital. While the surgery itself is free of charge, the medical instruments and consumable materials required for the procedure cost 80,000 UAH (approximately 1940 USD) — a sum the family simply cannot afford.
Any contribution you make will bring Zakhary closer to pain relief and a brighter future. Please, support this brave young boy!
