15-year-old Maksym has a number of complex diagnoses: cerebral palsy, delayed psychomotor development, and epilepsy. Last year, another severe illness was added to the list — Hodgkins lymphoma. The treatment was challenging and took a heavy toll on Maksym and his family, but thankfully, the disease was successfully driven into remission.
Every day for Maksym starts with taking medication. Afterward, his mother gives him massages and leads him through physical exercises herself. Maksym has never attended a regular school, but twice a week, a teacher from the Dzherelo boarding school comes to study with him.
Physical exercises are an essential part of his daily rehabilitation — they help reduce spasticity, maintain mobility, and alleviate pain. Maksym exercises at a manageable pace: at home on a trainer and outdoors on a special bicycle, though he gets tired quickly due to weakness.
To control his epilepsy seizures, Maksym must constantly take the drug Keppra, and he tolerates this specific manufacturer well. To supply the boy with the necessary medication, we are launching a fundraiser for 15,000 hryvnias (approximately 370 USD).
Please support Maksym — every contribution gives him a chance to learn, develop, and live a normal childhood life!
