=====================================

Alesha (Alexey) Voloshin is just one year old, but he has already been a surgeon’s client twice... It all started with him and his sister being born after 6.5-month pregnancy with three types of staphylococci and sepsis. Alesha was the first one born so he has got hypoxic-ischemic central nervous system injury and he had to stay connected to a lung ventilator longer than his sister... He had to stay in a neonatal intensive care unit for long two weeks, after four weeks spent in a neonatal pathology unit. It seemed he could go home but there appeared to be a swelling in the boy’s knee, so he and his mother had to go to the 5th children’s hospital, where the little patient was diagnosed with knee joint abscess so he had to go through punctures, drain surgery, antibiotics, blood transfusion, which meant another six weeks in the hospital...

The boy and his mother were discharged and went home when Alesha was almost 3 months old and it seemed that there would be no more hospitals. The boy went through four rehabilitation courses in a neurology unit. The family was really short of money. Alesha’s parents also had six-year son Vania to care about. The boy’s grandparents helped with all they could. Suddenly, before starting another course of rehabilitation, Alesha’s body temperature went up to 40°C, he was vomiting with blood. The ambulance took the boy to the children’s hospital and doctors decided to initiate an urgent surgery, which included excising spleen and removing the midgut volvulus. The boy went through gastrostomy, MD Patsiora’s surgery and a number of other very complicated surgical manipulations.

Two weeks in the intensive care unit, where doctors were fighting for the life of our little hero were very tough. The boy lost a lot of blood (he had several blood and plasma transfusions). When in the hospital, the boy had another episode of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, his life was hanging in the balance again... Doctors made a final diagnosis: portal hypertension syndrome, subhepatic form, post MD Patsiora’s surgery status, splenectomy.

This disease is insidious as nobody knows when the next episode of hemorrhage may occur. There is a hope that little Alesha may come back to normal life after a vascular anastomosis surgery. The Filatov Clinic in Moscow has a vast experience in this kind of operations. Alesha’s family does not have money, so there is no chance that the boy will have a healthy life without your support…

The family lives in Zaporozhzhye.

Telephone number of boy’s mother, Tatyana: +38 095 789 33 53.
