Serhiy is 19 years old. He is a cheerful, active, and goal-oriented young man. He has loved sports since childhood and played handball professionally for seven years. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music and fixing equipment.
The story of Serhiy's acquaintance with the "Happy Child" Charity Foundation began in 2022. Due to Russian aggression, his family's home suffered significant damage. Back then, the family turned to the foundation for help, and thanks to the support of donors, the children's room was completely renovated. The family still remembers this help with great gratitude.
Today, Serhiy is in need of support once again.
In May, due to severe pain in his shoulder, he consulted an orthopedic doctor. Following examinations, doctors discovered a neoplasm in his humerus. This was followed by numerous tests, CT and MRI scans, specialist consultations, and a biopsy. The results came as a real blow to Serhiy and his family — the young man was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the humerus.
Serhiy was referred to the National Cancer Institute in Kyiv. After examinations and a medical board meeting, it was determined that surgery is currently impossible. The doctors developed a treatment plan that began with a course of chemotherapy. Its goal is to shrink the tumor and destroy metastases so that further treatment becomes possible in the future.
Now Serhiy is going through a difficult stage of fighting the disease. The treatment has just begun and requires expensive medications, constant examinations, and major financial expenses. In the last two weeks alone, over 7,000 hryvnias have been spent on check-ups, medications, and special medical nutrition, with two more chemotherapies and a follow-up MRI scan ahead. Therefore, we aim to raise 30,000 hryvnias (approximately 740 USD) to support Serhiy for the next two months.
Every contribution is not just financial aid. It is a chance for a 19-year-old guy to return to his normal life, fulfill his dreams, and defeat the disease.
