The European Commission is willing to grant €14-million technical assistant for implementation of the women and kids rights protection project, the Coordinator of the European Commission External Assistance Representative in Ukraine informs.
“The Euro Commission has approved of this project in June, 2006. Now we are waiting for Ukrainian part to sign it,” said Helen Krey.
The project is aimed at reduction of the violence in families.” We keep assisting Ukraine which has deliberately announced about an intention to implement European standards into the social sphere of life,” summed the European Commission representative.
The European Commission has also allotted €400,000 as a technical aid to Kyiv regional social centres within the framework of European project “Development of the Integrated Social Services for Vulnerable Families and Children” implemented by “To Every Child” Consortium.
The project is aimed at reduction of the number of abandoned kids,” said Helen Krey.
The Project Coordinator Ilene Summon represented in-depth report on spent funds: 40 automobiles, three minibuses, 40 PCs, 10 lap-tops, 40 printers, 20 Xeroxes, one digital multifunctional copy, scan and print complex and 40 furniture complexes.
The aid has been taken by Adoption Department attached to Ukraine’s Family, Sport and Youth Ministry, the State Social Service for Family and Youth, 32 regional and city social aid centres, Juvenile Criminal Service, Educational Department and Health Protection Department of Kyiv Regional State Administration.
The purchase of the technical equipment has been made by results of open tender held by the European Commission.

If the Euro Commission signed its approval in June - - why on earth doesn't the UA-authorities lift the bum from their hands and sign? It's 3 months late now? And btw - does this commitment match the generous offer from Brother Russia? Or have I misunderstood something? Perhaps no offer?
