The legendary Island of Khortitsa has become a familiar tourism destination for “Klubok” club. This time, we welcomed children from Molochansk boarding school from the Zaporizhzhia region. After arrival at the tourist beach, we quickly set up our tents.
Lunch is ready!
Two kayaks arrived at the beach. A group of volunteers from Adventure Club came to teach the kids about kayaking and take them on a trip along the “old” part of the Dnieper. A trip on the water was a thrill with lots to learn about kayaking, and to see around islands of Khortitsa and Baida. The kids loved to be real river captains.
Next day, the kids went on a 5-mile mini-hike. The trail took us through a pine forest toward the museum of history of Zaporizhzhia Kossacs “Zaporizka Sitch”.
It was a very hot summer day, but we escaped the heat by splashing in the river many, many times!
One should mention Molochansk boarding school’s positive spirit and its many good qualities compared to an average boarding school due to the dedication of its teachers like Yuri Vladimirovich Kovalevski who genuinely loves and cares for his kids.
Thank you again to Dmitri Koshelevski for the kayaking trip, and to the staff of Khortitsa National Park for the guided tour of our favorite places.
Anyone can help the kids to have more trips like this by helping the tourism section of our fund. You can send canned or dried food or help by a financial contribution at your convenience.
Please feel free to contact the members of the “Klubok” Club if you have any questions, they will be happy to help!
