God helps through people's actions...

April 8, 2013, 17:00 3928 Author: Julia Feschenko, translated by Izabella Balakirsky www.deti.zp.ua or, about how real help leads to real results

For more than a year now, the Duryagin family has slowly been repairing their burnt-down residence, thanks to the help of caring residents of our city and working together with the specialists of the social work centre for families, children, and youths. Information about the family and about the trouble that had befallen them was actively published in the local mass media: in the "Vstrecha +" magazine, on the social networks (the volunteer "Vsesvit" group on VKontakte, forums ladies.zp.ua,061.zp.ua, vkurze.zp.ua,on the "Happy Child" website). During this time, many people have responded to this appeal for help. Oksana Duryagina had never thought that there were so many kind and caring people around, until this trouble befell her family. People don't only sympathize but actually help, and she thanks God for every such a person.

During this year, the family has received:

-humanitarian aid, not only from individuals but from different organizations in our city: ZGTSSSSDM, "Happy Child" charity foundation, "Sunlight" foundation (summer and winter clothing, shoes, school supplies for the children, food, sweets, Christmas presents);

-financial help (more than 2,000 hryvnyas (approximately 245 US dollars) were transferred to the family's bank account in the last 6 months);

-some articles of furniture (a few families donated two chairs and a dresser);

-from the city of Yalta and from the USA parcels with warm clothing, school supplies, and sweets were sent;

-also, the family was given two rugs, bed linens, an electric heater, and electric stove, a gas stove with a separate small container of gas, a small TV set, and dishes.

It would have been very difficult for the family to manage without all these necessary things. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped!

But, unfortunately, the family still has many needs. The twin girls, whom Oksana had adopted from the orphanage, have just started their first grade. But Katya and Masha have no desk to do their homework; they have to sit on the bed to do it. Because only two small rooms are habitable, the girls have no space for play. All members of the family have to eat sitting on their beds.

To continue the house reconstruction, the following supplies are necessary:

-insulation, nails (7 to 15 cm size), beams;

-shingles, bricks (white and red), cement;

-tar paper, spackling ("Start" or "Finish" brands);

-Tile, plastic pipes for the heating system, sand;

-Floor tiles, doors, windows, etc.

Appliances are also needed: a washing machine, an electric teakettle, and a fridge.

As to furniture, the family needs wardrobes, a desk, a kitchen table, sofas, chairs, nightstands, dressers, armchairs. The family would also appreciate receiving school supplies for the children, toys, educational games, and foodstuffs.

Oksana Duryagina can be contacted by phone: 95 85 96, 098 663 85 76.

Money can be transferred to the Foundation's accounts.

Additional information can be obtained by phone 769 81 86, 066 883 08 59 (the social worker of the center Julia Aleksandrovna).

Thanks a lot to everyone who responds or shares this message with friends! Oksana and her children are grateful to everyone for any help you can provide.
