=====================================

Lyudmila and Andrey lived in perfect harmony and love. They cherished every day of their life together, went to work while their beloved little talisman – son Eugeniy, went to school. Eugeniy always showed himself as a diligent and ambitious boy whose high school achievements made his parents and teachers happy. It seemed like this great family needed nothing else to be the happiest in the world. But something unexpected happened that made Lyudmila quit her job and Andrey work by the sweat of his brow. Their son’s health problems changed their life. Andrey works as a taxi driver to maintain his family’s standard of living and his son’s treatment. However, the lack of money looks really catastrophic even with Eugeniy’s state benefit money.

Eugeniy has had some kidney problems since childhood. But starting from the age of fifteen his condition has been deteriorating dramatically. It took doctors ages to realize what was going on with Eugeniy. After endless medical consultations, Lyudmila made her mind to go to the Kyiv Center where Eugeniy’s diagnosis was finally confirmed: Exanthematous lupus erythematosus. This is a severe autoimmune disorder when the person’s immune system attacks the cells of its own body. Consequently, it affects all the inner organs, especially the heart and kidneys. Eugeniy stayed at the Kyiv Center from April till August 2008 which resulted in huge amounts of money spent. This kind of treatment performed in Kyiv helps Eugeniy to control his disorder, so for the last four years once every two months Eugeniy goes to our Ukrainian capital to support his health condition.

The only way for Eugeniy to stop his disorder from progressing is medicine that suppresses his immune system. There is no other way to fight this kind of disorder. This immune suppressing therapy makes Eugeniy very vulnerable to various infections, though. Even the shortest contact with someone who has a simple cold brings Eugeniy lots of infectious complications.

Despite all the ordeals Eugeniy never loses his spirit: “My parents taught me to overcome all the life challenges, to believe in God, think about the consequences, to be staunch and to bravely look into the future. I honestly believe that I will be able to manage everything, I just need a bit more patience and financial support from you, kind and caring people”.

In spite the doctors’ great efforts, Eugeniy’s disorder affected the boy’s kidneys so that they can no longer function properly. The only life chance for Eugeniy is kidney transplant surgery. Luckily, Eugeniy already has a donor- his grandmother. This is a really valuable since many patients have to wait for years till they find the right donor. Eugeniy has been currently vaccinated for his successful and safe kidney transplantation that is planned for September-October 2012 at the Transplantation Department of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Hospital.

This complicated surgery requires a big list of medicine and surgery supplies for Eugeniy and his grandmother. Eugeniy’s mother who communicated with former patients believes that this surgery may need 60, 000 hryvnyas or 7,387 US dollars. It goes without saying that this family who’s been constantly struggling for the life of their son does not have this amount of money. That’s why the Chudnovskiy family is appealing to you for help. It’s vitally important for Eugeniy to have his kidneys transplanted as soon as possible to avoid some greater problems!

We’re aware of the fact that the timescale of three or four months does not make this fund-raising campaign easy but we believe that together WE CAN DO EVERYTHING!
