Trip to Dzhuryn Waterfall

April 22, 2026, 23:00 172 Author: President of Happy Child foundation: Albert Pavlov deti.zp.ua On April 18, 2026, 28 displaced children from Chernivtsi region visited Zalishchyky and explored interesting places of the Dniester Canyon.

Opening of the Klubok season in the Carpathians

The children's travel and educational project "Klubok", with the support of the Happy Child charity foundation, continues introducing children to the most interesting places of Ukraine. This time, 28 displaced children from the Storozhynets community of Chernivtsi region visited the Dniester Canyon, the area of Dzhuryn Waterfall, and the town of Zalishchyky. The children learned about different versions of the waterfall’s origin, as well as Chervonohorod Castle and the history of its destruction.

After visiting Dzhuryn Waterfall, we continued walking through the canyon and reached a smaller waterfall called "Maiden's Tears". This place is also known as "Pustelnia Tract", because before the First World War a hermit monk lived there in a grotto. After that, we walked to the bank of the Dniester River and even saw a roe deer.

It was only the first introduction to these fascinating places, and the children had many questions. In addition, there was an opportunity to get to know the group and understand that many children have great interest in future trips, including mountain hikes and climbing Hoverla. Therefore, we will try to organize similar events in May and during the summer of 2026.

The trip became possible thanks to cooperation with NGO "We Are from Ukraine" (Storozhynets) and the Storozhynets City Council, which provided a school bus. Fuel for the bus was paid for by the Happy Child charity foundation.

We need support to continue such excursions, as well as to organize more serious mountain hikes, including climbing Hoverla. Usually one excursion costs the foundation 250–500 UAH per child. Klubok also has a full set of hiking equipment, but funds are needed for transportation to the mountains, payment for a guide-organizer, and meals for the children — approximately 2000 UAH per child for a 3–4 day hike.

We will be grateful for your support, which will allow dozens more Ukrainian displaced children and children from frontline areas to see the mountains and discover new places!

We are ready to cooperate with communities from different parts of Ukraine interested in active developmental leisure for children.
