Children Need a Family: Vladimir P, born in 1998; Andrey P, born in 2000

March 9, 2015, 18:00 3326 Author: Sonia Koshkina, translated by Anya Gvozdyeva www.deti.zp.ua Andrey and Vladimir is 18 years old now

Vladimir and Andrey

We have already shared a remarkable story of these boys. Since then the brothers have noticeably grown up and matured. They don't look alike and have very different personalities. Vladimir is a calm, serious, and creative boy. Andrey, on the other hand, is energetic and outdoorsy. Despite their differences, they are very good friends. They always support and take care of each other.

Vladimir is a diligent and ambitious boy

Vladimir is very creative. In his spare time he gets crafty: he makes paper origami, greeting cards and wreaths. Also Vladimir has mastered decoupage. Even though he is an orphan, Vladimir helps those in need: his creations were exhibited in fairs and exhibitions, and all the proceeds were donated to charity.

Vladimir chooses friends with great care. He prefers to talk to calm people who are conscientious and responsible, just like him. He believes the most important quality of a true friend is being supportive no matter what. On an occasion Vladimir retreats to play boardgames, since he is keen on intellectually stimulating activities. No wonder his favorite subjects at school are maths and chemistry. Vladimir shared with us that he enjoys working out solutions to problems and doing exercises. He is a diligent student, does homework without supervision and is always keen to participate in the classroom. He has a life goal, too. He would like to continue studying to become a car mechanic.

Vladimir

Vladimir is in the orphanage together with his brother Andrey. As more senior he gets involved in his brother's upbringing.

I asked Vladimir what would be his three wishes if he met a genie? Even though he has a childish belief in magic, his reply turned out to be quite mature: he would ask for peace, an apartment and for everything to be ok in his life.

Andrey is a kind and caring boy. He needs attention and likes being treated with kindness.

Andrey

His reading skills are quite good and he can recite poems by heart. He has recited us a cheerful poem about himself. His homework efforts, however, depend on his mood. For Andrey to do a good job he needs to be interested in it. He enjoys active pursuits, too. His favourite subject at school is PE, and after school he plays football and basketball with his friends, takes part in relay races and plays his favourite ever game, "Step by Step". He enjoys puzzles with cars on them. Andrey once baked a cake, treated his classmates to it and they enjoyed it very much. His dream is to become a cook now and learn to cook properly.

The boys' dream is to have a big, friendly family; to spend quality time together in a cosy home. They want a family with no fights but lots of care and help for each other. The guys are waiting for their parents!

If you are interested in adopting these or other children, please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents; you can also contact Children’s Affairs' service of the Zaporozhia State Administration by telephone (061) 239-01-56 and tell them the profile numbers of Vladimir and Andrey - 0056260 and 0056261.

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage) with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
