Let’s Help Mark Finally Come Home

Since birth, Mark has been in the hospital and has never been home. Now there is a chance that he will be able to celebrate his first birthday together with his family.

Mark was born prematurely and from the very first minutes of his life he was in intensive care. During childbirth, he suffered a stroke. Since then, he has gone through meningitis, sepsis, hydrocephalus, and more than fifteen surgeries. Due to breathing problems, Mark breathes through a tracheostomy, and because of swallowing difficulties, he is fed through a gastrostomy.

Now Mark’s condition is relatively stable, and doctors are planning to discharge him home. However, there is an important condition — the necessary medical equipment must be available at home. The boy needs a tracheostomy suction device that can operate on battery power, as well as a pulse oximeter for continuous monitoring of blood oxygen levels. Mark does not cry, so breathing problems, especially at night, can only be noticed in time with the help of special devices.

In the near future, his mother will undergo training in tracheostomy and gastrostomy care, after which doctors will be able to approve his discharge home.

The discharge is planned in just a few weeks, so the medical equipment must be purchased by mid-April. For this, it is necessary to raise 12,200 UAH. (approximately 290 US dollars)

Friends, there is very little time, but together we can help Mark finally go home!
