A child has a family: Vjacheslav (was born in 1998) and Oksana N., (was born in 1992)

Vjacheslav was adopted.

The truth be told, this article is more about Slava (Vjacheslav) since his sister Oksana is a graduate student of Boarding School (orphanage) and already celebrated her 18th birthday, meaning it is not possible to adopt her. But despite this adoption obstacle, Slava cannot cross his beloved sister out of his life.

I asked Slava about his big dreams. Without a moment’s hesitation he said: “I want Oksana and me to have good parents”. Oksana understands the feelings of her younger brother and smiles. She still hopes to be able to keep in touch with him after his adoption. Slava also added that he wants all the people in the world to be kind and believe in God. The boy also dreams of travelling.

By the way, Slava, like other orphanage kids, had a great opportunity to spend his vacations in the USA. The boy’s kindness and honesty amazed his American host family. His host sister is a wheelchair user. So, without many words, Slava supported the girl. Unlike some grown-ups, Slava was not shocked about the girl’s helplessness. Unfortunately, the family could not adopt Slava due to their age.

The boy also enjoyed visiting The International Children’s Center Artek (he was awarded this trip as a good student). He enjoyed his camp holidays a lot. He loves playing football even though he and his sister have calm dispositions. Slava is also keen on reading, especially fairy tales and the children’s magazine “Poznajko”. The boy likes watching historical films and movies about real heroes. His favourite movie is “The 300 Spartans”.

Oksana has a mild, feminine character. Her hobby is embroidering. The girl’s favourite teacher helped her master this art. Oksana gratefully informed me that her teacher buys all the necessary stuff such as fabric and threads at her expense. The girl is very easy-going though she is rather selective about friendship: she’s only got two girlfriends whom she can rely on. She treasures the friendship with them.

Oksana also likes mathematics and physical training lessons, especially ball games. She is dreaming of becoming a hairdresser. The girl is anxious about her future independent life. Her boarding school life will be soon over: she is going to graduate soon. It has been four years already since the sister and brother began living at the orphanage. They can only imagine what kind of life they will have to face ‘outside’ the orphanage walls. Oksana worries that she it’s likely she won’t be able to visit her brother very often.

Their only dream is to find a real loving family and stay together.

Perhaps it is YOU who is ready to help these children?

Other children who dream of finding a family.

If you are not ready to adopt at this moment (e.g. you are a student and haven’t created your own family yet) you can also help children from the boarding school (orphanage) by supporting organizationally or financially excursions and trips for the children, visiting a child in the orphanage, or helping with buying developmental toys, books, construction sets and sport equipment.
