Nikolai as well as Matvey are with his new loving family in the USA now
During my orphanage visits I never really noticed little Nikolai since he never runs, shouts, or even speaks. He usually lies in his bed or sits in a stroller.
When I first noticed Nikolai I was really shocked. It had nothing to do with a cultural shock. I experienced so-called human shock by what I had seen. It seemed to me that this little boy was leprous. Despite my fears I dared to touch him. His problem turned out to be noncontagious and even almost unnoticeable with some additional treatment.
I couldn’t help noticing how much joy it brings to little Nikolai when someone strokes his hand. He always smiles at everyone who gives him their love and care.
Obviously, little Nikolai does not look his age. However, his arms are strong enough to tightly hold everyone who touches him.
His rollicking laugher is spread around with the speed of light.
Nikolai has a very serious, far away from childish look. He is unlikely to enjoy the life of an ordinary healthy grown up. Nikolai will always need a lot of assistance but he is willing to present you his lively laugher, sunny smile and the strength of his spirit.
Nikolai is already fifteen years old what means he will have to move to a care institution for disabled people in three years. Unless Nikolai finds his family, he is destined to spend and end his monotonous life in the old people’s home. I’m well aware that one has to be spiritually strong to make such an important decision but it can also be your family needs such a sweet smiling human being.
