Vitalik is now on his way home with his new foster parents. He as well as his new family are all sure that the boy won't come back to the orphanage anymore! It's the best birthday present Vitalik has ever received in his life!

Years at the orphanage vain waiting for adoptive parents - all this hasn't angered Vitalik, hasn't made him reserved. He understands that he is not so pretty as the other kids and his one-eye blindness may frighten people, but his heart hasn't become embittered.

You know what I noticed while conducting a casual conversation with him about his life, education and interests? Vitalik evaluated many things in terms of beauty. This is not such a common thing for a boy of his age and life-style. He draws well and feels the aesthetics of the world. Of course, his inclinations demand development. And there is nobody at the orphanage to cultivate good taste and appreciate such flairs of his. Another thing about him is his ability to find a common language with the girls, which is a pretty rare quality for his age. And at the same time he has friends and usual boys’ interests: football and equipment.

There's something else that has moved me about his story. Vitalik has been staying at the orphanage since he started school, but he wants to become an electrician as his father. They have not spoken for years. I'm not quite sure that the child even remembers his features. But Vitalik wants to be like someone very special to him. Perhaps, he remembers the rare moments of intimacy with the parent, the common grounds. He might have just quietly sat next to his father when he assorted a socket and it left a lasting impression on the boy. And I will never believe those people who assert that a teenager doesn’t need parents.

If you are interested in adopting Vitakil S., please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents; you can also contact Children’s Affairs' service of the Zaporozhia State Administration by telephone (061) 239-01-56. Request the Profile Number of Vitalik accordingly to the orphan list # 0060811.

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
