A Short Report from the Operating Room

December 29, 2013, 11:40 3064 Author: Roman Kirchenko, translated by Anna Oliynyk www.deti.zp.ua New Equipment and New Opportunities for Zaporozhzhye Regional Children’s Hospital

Strange medical devices, mostly reminding boxes with lights, are not able to awaken the same feelings in a donor’s heart as real children in need of help. At the same time, those “boxes with lights” save the lives of very real human beings. Or at least considerably improve their health. The thing is that we almost never get a chance to see how they “operate”.

To demonstrate the operation of the Electric Coagulator for Welding of Soft Live Tissues EK-300M1 recently purchased for Regional Children’s Hospital, the author of this article went to the “frontline” of medical workers – to the operating room.

I was lucky to talk to the doctors during the surgery and to realize the importance of this equipment. The possibilities of the previous-generation device, coagulator, were considerably lower. Besides, after many years in use it was not performing its functions very well.

By the way, the new device has been developed and manufactured in Ukraine! To make a long story short, it allows welding-joining of soft tissues more effectively and with much lower harm make it to the body as compared to other existing instruments. Fewer traumas, less complications and quicker recovery after the surgery.

Even when the surgeons were operating, there was practically no blood.

When you listen to the excited comments of the surgeon and see the operation in process with your own eyes, you are more than thankful to the people who support the operation of the foundation and the work of the doctors.

Thanks a lot to all who made this purchase happen.
