A Child Needs a Family: Michail M., born in 1999

January 4, 2014, 10:20 4543 Author: Maria Semashkina, translated by Daria Sukach www.deti.zp.ua Michail is 18 years old now

Despite Michail’s vision problems and perhaps contrary to all expectations he is a very curious child. That is why he often stands at the window during cold seasons and in summer when he is outside he likes to touch thorny pine branches again and again. Although some new experiences may hurt, it definitely hurts more to be away from real life.

Michail almost never plays with toys but may hold them for a while. If there is nothing interesting around him he sits lonely and swings for ages. He stops swinging as soon as someone calls his name – as if he hopes that something miraculous is finally going to happen in his life.

I am often amazed at how deeply Michail looks at people and I am always curious about what he thinks about but cannot express with words at such moments.

The child always responds to care and kindness. He smiles and tries to reach someone’s heart by all possible ways.

If you are interested in adopting Michail, please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents; you can also contact Children’s Affairs' service of the Zaporozhia State Administration by telephone (061) 239-01-56 quoting Michail’s Profile Number 0055259.

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
