On 19 February 2016, Aleksandr had a complex operation on his cervical vertebra in the Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology in Kharkiv, with an implant being inserted. The surgery was a success. After three days in intensive care, Aleksandr was transferred to the Vertebrology Department of the same Sytenko Institute. His state is stable but it requires long-term rehabilitation and expensive treatment. Doctors expect that in a week the boy will be able to sit. Besides, in four weeks Aleksandr will have to go through one more surgery on his lower jaw bone which was broken in three places.
