News about Olga Horlikova's treatment
“Lack of proper treatment is torture! If you have cystic fibrosis, you feel constant suffocation. It's like a plastic bag was pulled over your head and forced to breathe in it. This disease requires lifelong treatment.” This is how Olga lives her life. For more than 8 years in a row, she has been living thanks to the help of benefactors, since the state does not fulfill its obligations prescribed by the laws of Ukraine and the Constitution to power.
“With cystic fibrosis, all internal organs are affected, so for as long as I can remember, I have been taking a lot of medications. My life and the life of my loved ones is like the movement of a squirrel in a wheel - in a circle without stopping, in a constant struggle for every breath of air.
Since childhood, when everyone went to school, I was treated and studied at home. My every morning, then and now, begins and ends with inhalations, pills and physiotherapy. Now I have grown up and work, but the daily rituals continue, only the amount of drugs has grown exponentially.
Every day I learn to live, not pay attention to people who shy away from me, or give advice on coughing, I have to humiliate myself, knock officials in search of drugs, every day I force myself to be strong.
I can and want to live better, I want to work fully, to love, to have children, to do what I love, but .. Again and again, I cannot survive without a struggle. Now I am in a helpless state. I have only two choices to put up with and slowly fade away, or do the unreal and start a fight! I choose the second path, until my last breath! To do this, I need to start a course of treatment with Bramitob and Colomycin as soon as possible. Please help me breathe! Take those damn bags off my head!”
One course of treatment lasts 6 months and costs 248 399 UAH. It will most likely need to be repeated. After all, Olga has been fighting Pseudomonas aeruginosa for more than a year, she is resistant to most antibiotics. Even if Olya works around the clock, she will not collect that kind of money on her own. But we believe that we can cope with this together!
The family lives in Zaporozhye.
