Unfortunately, Bogdan left us. For a long time he tried to fight for his life, being in the intensive care unit of the Zaporozhye children's hospital. But the disease was stronger.

Bogdan is 14 years old. He is a very smart, kind and cheerful boy. Winner of school Olympiads, enjoys computers and programming. Dreams of creating artificial intelligence. This is how his friends know him, and now almost the entire small native town. An insidious disease - cancer - questioned the implementation of Bogdan's plans, but did not leave aside the caring residents of Dneprorudny. In his hometown, everyone rushed to support Bogdan: classmates collect money by publishing a video about him, organize flash mobs; a charity fair was organized.
At the beginning of 2020, Bogdan began to experience a headache, double vision. On examination by an ophthalmologist, an edema of the optic nerve head was found. MRI was used to diagnose a large cystic solid tumor of the left lobe of the brain. An open brain operation was performed and the tumor was completely removed. Bogdan underwent the operation well, recovered quickly, but histology revealed that the tumor was aggressive, grade 4. During the puncture, tumor cells were also found in the cerebrospinal fluid. I had to start a course of chemotherapy, which Bogdan received in Zaporozhye. The next seven are already in Kiev, at the National Cancer Institute.
Between chemistry, I felt good, like a healthy child. The last follow-up MRI showed no tumor growth or metastases. All the malignant cells in the cerebrospinal fluid were killed. The doctors' predictions are good, but for a complete victory you still need to fight.

The next stage of treatment is radiation therapy. And in order to effectively irradiate the tumor and at the same time minimize complications, it was necessary to use proton rays during therapy. This is the kind of therapy that doctors at the National Cancer Institute insisted on. After conventional radiation therapy, Bogdan was expected to receive 4 more difficult courses of chemotherapy, so complications from radiation could interfere with effective treatment and create many health problems for the rest of his life.
By the joint efforts of our and other funds, the amount necessary for the irradiation was collected. We decided to conduct it in St. Petersburg at the Medical Institute named after Berezin Sergei, in the center of proton therapy. And in October 2020, the entire complex of treatment was successfully completed. When Bogdan and his mother returned to their hometown, we all rejoiced at the success of our hero! The guy gladly plunged into school life and communication with friends. But already a month after the therapy, during the follow-up examination, he was found to have a new lesion, which, unfortunately, is now impossible to operate. The tumor is large and growing very rapidly. The situation is urgent and Bogdan's family is asking for help again.
The cost of proton therapy is UAH 950,000. We believe that we can help our Bogdan this time too.
