Despite all the challenges, Oleksii Oldenburg loves life very much — listening to audiobooks, especially “Harry Potter” and adventure stories, watching science programs about nature and the Universe, and watching video games. He loves animals very much. He is kind, caring, positive, and even in the most difficult moments supports his mother.
From birth, the boy has been fighting a serious illness. At the age of five, he was given the final diagnosis — Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Gradually, the boy stopped walking, and at almost seven years old he ended up in a wheelchair. At the age of twelve, after severe pneumonia and one lung failing, Oleksii became dependent on a ventilator.
Five years ago, Happy Child Charitable Foundation helped the family purchase a vital ventilator. Today the family is once again forced to ask for help.
Because of the war, the family was forced to leave their home in Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia region. During one of the shellings, Oleksii’s mother suffered severe injuries and was treated for a long time, while Oleksii himself was in intensive care. Now mother and son are left alone and live in a rented apartment on the fifth floor, where it is impossible to use a generator.
Their charging station is no longer new and cannot withstand prolonged loads. And for Oleksii, electricity is not simply a matter of comfort. It is the ability for the ventilator to keep working and, accordingly, the ability to live.
We ask you to help purchase a charging station for Oleksii so that during prolonged power outages his vital medical equipment can continue to operate.
Every contribution is not just support. For Oleksii, it is an opportunity to be safe and continue living.
The fundraising target is about $675.
