We have known Valya Nikolaenko for over 15 years. During this time, we have repeatedly supported the girl and her family in their fight for her health.
Since childhood, Valya has suffered from a severe condition — polycystic kidney disease of both kidneys, which led to chronic kidney failure. In 2023, the girl underwent a kidney transplant; her mother was the donor. Since the transplant, Valya has required constant medical support and regular check-ups.
The transplant was an important step, but it did not mean a full recovery. Because of the long-term progression of the disease, other organs and systems of her body were affected, particularly the musculoskeletal system. Over the past few years, Valya's gait has deteriorated, and she has developed a limp and severe pain.
In the spring of this year, doctors diagnosed her with grade III bilateral coxarthrosis — a severe lesion of the hip joints. In May, Valya successfully underwent endoprosthetic replacement of her left hip joint. The operation brought long-awaited relief, but for a full recovery, the right hip joint must also be replaced. This operation will help align the length of her legs, restore a normal gait, prevent further complications, and give her the chance to live without pain.
Valya used to practice oriental dance for many years, but now her biggest dream is to walk freely again — without pain, without a limp, and without a wheelchair.
We are launching a fundraiser to purchase an endoprosthesis for the right hip joint, which costs 70,000 hryvnias.
Every contribution brings Valya closer to a life without pain and gives her the chance to walk freely again.
