Kateryna Malovychko

Seventeen-year-old Kateryna is an active and cheerful girl who was always in a hurry: to study, to training sessions, or to meet friends. She had many plans, dreams, and her whole life ahead of her. But at the end of May this year, everything changed in an instant.

That day, Kateryna was walking with friends. Suddenly, she felt dizzy, lost her balance, and fell from a parapet from a height of about 2–3 meters.

As a result of the fall, she sustained severe injuries: a leg fracture and damage to three vertebrae. Her condition required urgent surgery. Without spinal surgery, she could have permanently lost the ability to walk.

For the operation, a special metal fixation system costing 44,300 UAH was required. We agreed with the supplier on a one-month deferred payment, which allowed the device to arrive at the hospital in time.

On May 29, doctors performed an extremely complex operation lasting more than six hours. Due to the severity of the injury and multiple bone fragments, the surgery was very difficult. Fortunately, after the operation Kateryna can feel her limbs, giving hope for recovery.

However, the fight for her health continues. Another surgery is ahead — on her leg. It requires a fixation plate and screws costing around 10,000 UAH.

Doctors remain cautious in their prognosis. A long and difficult rehabilitation lies ahead — many months of treatment and recovery before she can stand again.

The total fundraising amount is 54,300 UAH (approximately 1220 US dollars). This is the cost of the metal implants that gave Kateryna a chance to recover.

Please support this fundraising campaign. Together we can help Kateryna return to normal life.
