Artem was born significantly premature. The first months of his life he spent in the hospital, and after discharge began a long path of rehabilitation that continues to this day.
Premature birth had serious consequences for his health, in particular leading to hearing impairment, which was rapidly deteriorating. When hearing aids no longer helped, Artem was fitted with a cochlear implant. For the three-year-old boy, this became an opportunity to rediscover the world of sounds, understand speech, and gradually develop his own speech.
Later, Artem was also diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The combination of deafness and ASD significantly complicates his development, so the boy needs constant classes with specialists. But despite the difficulties, Artem has good results: thanks to many years of work, he has learned to read, write, and interact with others. He loves walks and travels, is interested in the surrounding world, and rejoices in new sounds and words.
The cochlear implant for Artem is his connection to the world. But now the behind-the-ear speech processor is working incorrectly due to a microphone malfunction. Because of this, Artem hears worse, and words become less distinct. Fortunately, the processor can be repaired at the company's production facilities abroad. The cost of repair is 60,960 hryvnias (approx. 1,480 USD).
