Zaporizhzhia comes under shelling almost every day. It is impossible to predict where the next drone or missile will strike.
On March 16, a “Shahed” drone hit a private house where Kristina Tyshchenko lived with her parents. At the moment of the strike, the girl was home alone. As a result of the hit, neighbors were killed and injured, and in another part of the house, fifteen-year-old Kristina was trapped under the rubble.
The girl was rescued, but she sustained severe injuries: fractures of the arm and leg with displacement, damage to the lower leg bones, and serious soft tissue injuries.
On the same day, doctors at the Zaporizhzhia Regional Children's Hospital performed a complex operation — osteosynthesis of the shoulder and right lower leg. A few days later, another surgery followed — removal of necrotic tissue after burns, skin grafting, and additional surgical intervention on the leg.
Currently, Kristina is in the trauma department in stable condition. Ahead lies a long recovery: healing of the transplanted skin, follow-up examinations, and bone healing.
Implants were urgently needed for the surgery. We managed to arrange a payment deferral with the supplier, but the amount — 16,500 UAH (approximately 390 US dollars) — must be covered.
The family’s house has been completely destroyed and cannot be restored. We are opening a fundraiser to help the family cope with their daughter's treatment during this extremely difficult time. Please support us!
