Today Vladimir has left his orphanage. He and his new mom had to overcome a lot to become a family. We are happy for Vladimir and his new life!
This boy has charm of his own, though it is not so bright to strike you at once. But the more you get to know Vladimir, the more you want to talk to him and learn things about him.
What was so special about him for me? It was his attentiveness and an unusual thoughtful attitude to everything going on around him. He’s got a very serious expression on his face, not very typical for children of his age.
How does it usually happen? Somewhere you meet children, very nice ones. And all of a sudden you hear a humble: “poor orphans”. And without even realizing it, you start taking out of your pockets some sweets or nuts — whatever you happen to have there. And if you have nothing to give them, you feel kind of ashamed and confused. Those who know about meeting the children beforehand, care to bring some toys or books with them. And the children get used to things like that very quickly. They open any door and are looking at people with some kind of expectation, holding their hands ready and like saying: “What have you got for us?”
You have noticed it, too, right? But we can not blame those children, as we are the ones who teach them this kind of behavior and attitude to people around them. The same story with this boy.
But, you know, he has also got some kind of caring attitude to other people and an ability to quickly understand who needs help and provide support to those who do. Apart from that, he is very curious, asks questions, is deeply interested in new things, loves reading fairy-takes, playing toy cars, and drawing. His teachers can not but mention his good sense of humor.
What else is it important to know? This child has got a chronic disease and needs to take medications. But it does not mean that half of you family budget will have to be spent to buy the drugs, and half of your time will have to be devoted to taking care of the sick boy. Those who do not know about the disease would never guess the boy needs treatment. And all you will have to do is give pills to Vladimir and attend a doctor from time to time.

Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
